“I had a Carrier heat pump installed April of 2023. I have had nothing but problems and they started 1 month out of warranty. I was not made aware of the fact that these systems are not efficient (understatement) in the Northeast where the temperature goes below freezing. This is New England. Right now, the temperature is -5.
First problem was June 2025. Apparently, mice chewed the wires. Had to replace motherboard. Was not told this was a common problem. Bought mice traps, spray and cleared area to "alleviate" the problem. Lost A/C for 2 weeks at a time this summer with temps in the 90's. July 2025 – another service call, September 2025 – another service call. September 2025 again – another service call. November 2025 – another service call. Now I get a message on the thermostat that says "Heat pump problem. For the past 120 minutes the thermostat has been calling for heat, but the room temperature has decreased by 3.7F, minimum required is 0.5F. Needless to say, I am extremely upset and angry at this situation and it always happens in the hottest temps and the lowest. I am ready to contact the state and any department including DPUC to make a complaint. I want to know what you are going to do to remedy this situation. I feel I was lied to by the salesman. I purchased the most expensive unit. This system is the worst I have ever had. I had all electric, then oil and now this. This system caused me the most problems.”
